Ingredients

  • 1 pound loaf of French Bread, cut in half lengthwise
  • 1/2 pound Ground Beef
  • 1 medium Onion, sliced thin
  • 4 ounces fresh Mushrooms, sliced thin
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried minced Garlic
  • 1/4 teaspoon Black Pepper, ground
  • 1 cup jarred Spaghetti Sauce
  • 1/2 cup Mozzarella Cheese, shredded

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, brown ground beef and drain well. Set aside.
  2. In same skillet, sauté onions and mushrooms with garlic and pepper.
  3. Stir in drained beef and spaghetti sauce.
  4. Heat until bubbly.
  5. Place bread halves on a broiler safe baking sheet.
  6. Top bread halves with meat mixture and top with cheese.
  7. Broil 6 inches under heat source for about 10 minutes or until cheese is bubbly and golden. Watch closely to prevent from burning.
  8. Remove from broiler.
  9. Slice and serve.

Notes

Serve with a green salad and a light dessert.

Ingredients

  • 1 package (16 oz.) dry ziti pasta
  • 1 pound bulk Italian sausage
  • 1 jar (16 oz.) Spaghetti sauce
  • 1 jar (16 oz.) Alfredo sauce
  • 8 ounces shredded Italian cheese blend

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350F
  2. Fill a large pot with lightly salted water and bring to a boil
  3. Stir in the ziti and return to a boil
  4. Cook the ziti uncovered, stirring occasionally, until cooked through but still slightly firm (about 1 minutes)
  5. Drain well
  6. While the pasta is cooking, heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and stir in the sausage
  7. Cook and stir until the sausage is crumbly, evenly browned and no longer pink
  8. Drain and discard any excess grease
  9. Stir in the ziti, spaghetti sauce and Alfredo sauce.
  10. Transfer mixture into a large baking dish
  11. Top with the cheese
  12. Bake in preheated oven until the sauce is bubbly and the cheese is melted, about 15 minutes

Notes

Serve with a green salad and fruit for dessert.
